Sweet Wind invites young people to discover their future as a seafarer by offering sailing classes, free of charge, in beautiful Portsmouth, Dominica.
Sweet Wind is responding to two challenges:
The global need for more skilled, commercial seafarers,
The local need to provide the youth of Portsmouth, Dominica greater access to positive opportunities.
Classified by the United Nations as a Small Island Developing State, Dominica’s coastal communities are surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
From Olympic sailors to Captains of tomorrow’s cargo ships, Sweet Wind is unfurling the potential of the next generation of those who go to sea.

Here at Sweet Wind, we blend the joy of sailing with the tools to grow as a seafarer - lessons in theory, professional racing coaches, access to accredited training, and of course, real time spent on the water.
Evenings on the water together inspire, laughter, sharing, and a deep sense of belonging.
